Excel Travel Itinerary FAQ
Why a CSV instead of an .xlsx file?
A CSV opens in every version of Excel, plus Numbers and LibreOffice, with no macros or security warnings. Once it's open, File → Save As → Excel Workbook (.xlsx) keeps any formatting you add.
Excel turned 6/12 into a date. Is that a problem?
Usually it's what you want — a real date lets you sort and filter by day. If you'd rather keep the column as text, import it with Data → From Text/CSV and set that column's type to Text instead of double-clicking the file.
How do I total the Cost column?
Click the cell under the last cost and enter =SUM(F2:F6). The example rows use plain numbers on purpose, so the formula works as soon as the file opens.
